Questionwhen I turn on my new microwave there is a loud ticking sound. The sound goes away after a few seconds, but when you turn it off the ticking sound returns. It sounds like when kids put baseball cards between the spokes of a bike tire. Is this normal?

- Answer No! It should not make that type of noise. Mine does not. You should get a humming sound not a clicking sound. My guess is there is something wrong with the motor or packing somewhere that needs to be removed. It's probably a defective machine.

Questionwhat is the exact measurement from the front of the micro to the most furthest depth ? Is there anything attached to the back that would add more depth to the micro or is the 12.75 " correct ? Our shelf measures 12' exactly .

- Answer There is a 1 1/4 inch space guard on the back of microwave. It does bump out in the back, so it may not fit on your shelf.

QuestionMy refrigerator, oven, and dish washer are stainless steel with darker gray sides. The outline and face/glass of the oven is gray as well. Is this microwave gray on the front where the buttons and glass are? It is really hard to tell in the picture.

- Answer Hello Kim, Thank you for your question. I am happy to help. This model does not have an optional trim kit and is intended for countertop use only. Microwaves need adequate air clearance on each side, the rear and the top to function properly. This allows good circulation for the intake and discharge air vents. Countertop Models require: ~3" of clearance on both sides and the top ~1" clearance in the rear ~The front edge of the microwave (measured at door) should sit at least 3" or more back on the counter or shelf to avoid accidental tipping. ~If located on the counter near a range, we recommend locating it at least 2 ft away. ~Do not place near or over a heat source. - Answer Hi Joel- Thanks for considering our GE GE® 0.7 Cu. Ft. Capacity Countertop Microwave Oven JES1072SHSS! To program 10 seconds of cooking time, press TIME COOK, enter the time, then press Start. TIME COOK allows you to microwave for any time up to 99 minutes and 99 seconds. Also, the "Add 30 Sec" pad will add 30 seconds to the time counting down each time the pad is pressed. Each touch will add 30 seconds, up to 99 minutes and 99 seconds. This allows good circulation for the intake and discharge air vents. 3" of clearance on both sides and the top and 1" clearance in the rear is recommended. Some foods can produce strong odors while cooking. Some extreme odors like fish or burned popcorn may take several days to wear away. If you have more clearance on top and in the back and less than the recommended clearance on the sides this should be fine. You need to make sure there is good air circulation around the microwave.
