• Open button is firm but not difficult. Yes, pushing the 1 button automatically cooks for 1 minute. Pushing 2 for 2 minutes, etc.

• We did buy this microwave and I do NOT agree with GE's answer! it was not an *easy* push open at all, it is firm!
