Hi RITmom- Welcome to the GE Appliances Family! Sensor Cooking Controls automatically sense the humidity (steam) released from foods during cooking and adjusts time and power for best results. It is not a preset time so can vary depending on the food type and amount. Play Video: https://www.youtube.com/embed/yM_I2G6dFOo?rel=0 On most, the oven signals when steam is sensed and the time remaining begins counting down. - See the following link: MICROWAVE SENSOR COOKING: http://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=18846 - MICROWAVE SENSOR COOKING DEFINITIONS: http://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=21531 - Also, see page 20- 24 of the Owner's Manual at the following link: http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-40660-2.pdf - Display On/Off turns the clock display on or off. For reference, see page 26 of the Owner's Manual. We hope this is helpful. You can also contact us at 1-800-626-2005 or visit GEAppliances.com. Keep in touch! SUE@GEA
