I'm not sure if there is a way to turn it off, but you can stop the platter inside from spinning by putting something underneath it to raise it up about a 1/2 inch so it will no longer sit on the mechanism that makes it turn. Just make sure that whatever you use does not contain any metal. Something like a small Tupperware type bowl or lid (the flatter the better) with a hole cut in the middle would probably work. Oh course make sure that whatever you use is microwavable and will not melt.
