This has happened to my previous 3 microwaves over the years. Each time, it was something called a magnetron. It is a very expensive part - usually over 100.00 for just the part. To me, it isn’t cost effective. Microwaves seem to last only 3-4 years. We have just replaced them, but will no longer buy the fanciest ones. We have been lucky to find great deals on open box items.

If the microwave runs but is not heating, it could be one of many components. Make sure the “Timer” function was not inadvertently used. Check to ensure the door is closed firmly. Close it firmly, but do not slam. This confirms the engagement of the door's safety mechanisms. Reset the electronics by turning of power at the circuit breaker (or unplug) for 30 seconds or so. For safety reasons, we offer no do-it-yourself repair advice on microwave ovens due to an internal high voltage capacitor (can hold a high voltage charge even after it has been unplugged). Special equipment is generally needed to make a diagnosis. If the above suggestions do not solve the problem and the microwave still won't heat, we recommend to schedule an appointment with GE Appliances Factory Service at: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm?ICID=GEARsupportflyout-service - The current model is GE® 1.9 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Sensor Microwave Oven JVM7195SKSS. We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you. Keep in touch! Sue
