I had an older model that I was replacing and they did end up changing the brackets. I asked about it and they explained that while they might have been able to use the older brackets, the ones that went with this unit were a slight upgrade.

When replacing an over-the-range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. The new screws, bolts, and exhaust adapter should also be used.We hope this helps, and should you have any additional questions, please reach out to us!- Kianna@GEA
