The unit is surprisingly quiet for as big as it is. Should be fine in terms of noise that close to your bedroom. Don't know about the returnable part...that's a Best Buy question!

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hey there, and thanks for this great question! We certainly understand how important quiet operation of the freezer is, especially if it will be near your bedroom. We design our appliances to run as quietly as possible for your convenience, though we do expect some sounds as the appliance runs. Modern freezers feature more storage capacity and increased temperature stability, and therefore require a high-efficiency compressor. If the surrounding noise level is low, you may be able to hear the compressor running. When the compressor first cycles on it may be a bit louder, though the sound will level off or disappear as it continues to run. Page 14 of the manual does describe some of the other sounds we expect the model to make, if that might be helpful. (The manual can be viewed on our GE website when you look up the model number and go to the product page.) Regarding return, we provide a limited manufacturer’s warranty that covers service on the appliance for the first year, as well as possible replacement of parts if needed. Information on the limited warranty is available on page 15 of the manual. Whether the full appliance is returnable may depend on the policy of the dealer you purchase from. We hope this information is helpful, and are confident this upright freezer would be a wonderful addition to your household. All the best! -Sarah@GEA
