Q: QuestionLooking to buy this freezer. What’s the actual amperage or watts that this freezer uses? I understand it 120v 60hz 15a or 20a circuit protection but what are the Amps that this freezer uses? Can’t find it anywhere online.
Asked by HA.
- A:Answer Hey there, and thanks for your interest in this upright freezer! We know how important the energy used by the appliance is, and we’re glad to advise. Except for international units, all of our upright freezers have approximately a 5 amp draw. The freezer will generally draw an extra current during start up which is approximately 2x the running amp draw. If you need to know the exact amps or watts used, we recommend checking the rating plate on the appliance. That should be consulted if the freezer needs to be placed on a generator or another auxiliary power source. We suggest that the freezer be on a dedicated circuit, for best performance and to avoid any overloading of house wiring circuits. We hope this helps. If you have any additional concerns or questions, we are always happy to assist. Best wishes! -Sarah@GEA

Q: QuestionWhere are these freezers manufactured? In the US???
Asked by Dan.
- A:Answer Hi Dan - Current GE Upright Freezers are not made in the US. GE Appliances products are designed by GE Appliances engineers in the United States. Many are manufactured in the U.S. and others are made globally to our specifications. The country of origin is shown on the Model/Serial rating plate as well as the packaging. Manufacturing facilities (plant sites, where appliances are made) can and do change from time to time because GE Appliances continues to seek the most efficient manufacturing processes available. We make products all over the world for a Global marketplace. Therefore, your best source for manufacturing location is the packaging/product itself. Keep in touch! Sue

Q: QuestionDoes it require a water connection or just electric plug?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Hi - Thanks for choosing GE! A water connection is not required for an Upright Freezer. Also, the freezer should always be plugged into its own individual electrical outlet which has a voltage rating that matches the rating plate. A 115 Volt AC, 60 Hz, 15- or 20-amp fused, grounded electrical supply is required. This provides the best performance and also prevents overloading house wiring circuits which could cause a fire hazard from overheated wires. The freezer must be properly grounded. The power cord of this appliance is equipped with a three-prong (grounding) plug which mates with a standard three-prong (grounding) wall receptacle to minimize the possibility of electric shock hazard from this appliance. Because of potential safety hazards under certain conditions, we strongly recommend against the use of an extension cord. However, if you must use an extension cord, it is absolutely necessary that it be a UL-listed (in the United States) or a CSA certified (in Canada), 3-wire grounding type appliance extension cord having a grounding type plug and outlet and that the electrical rating of the cord be 15 amp (minimum) and 120 volts. Enjoy! Sue
