Hi - We appreciate your interest in this great freestanding GE nugget ice maker. These ice makers do not cool the ice compartment like a refrigerator or freezer. The temperature of the bin relies on the ice made to stay cool. The design intent is that the unit makes ice and that ice continuously melts. We hope you choose our GE ice maker for your home.
