Hello. We appreciate your interest in our freezers! We know how important the energy use of your unit would be, and we’re glad to advise. The compressors are different between these two models – the FCM16SL has a less efficient compressor than the FCM16DL. The estimated yearly electricity use of FCM16SL is 308 kWh. The cost would depend on your use and utility rates; we estimate the cost to run the freezer would be $37 (in United States dollars) per year, based on a (also U.S. based) national average electricity cost of 12 cents per kWh. Meanwhile, the FCM16DL has an estimated yearly electricity use of 277 kWh, with an estimated yearly cost of $33. We hope this information is helpful.
