QuestionI HAVE A GE TRASH COMPACTOR MODEL # GCG1580R0SS THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE PICTURE OF THIS REPLACEMENT DOES NOT HAVE A HANDLE. DO THE NEW MODELS NOT HAVE A HANDLE? I AM ASSUMING THAT THIS ONE IS THE RELPLACEMENT.

- Answer This unit does not have a handle. It looks nice but it's almost impossible to keep it clean - because it has no handle. See the photo I uploaded. The foot pedal just barely opens the unit. Then you have to use your hand to open it enough to put your trash in. It's also terribly loud. It's really awful.

QuestionNew GE Trash Compactor is jammed and the Cam will not allow the door to be reopened. There must be a switch in the door that will reverse the Cam to the open position. Where is the Cam release switch located? The foot pedal is disengaged at this time.

QuestionWe hurriedly installed our compactor and did not level it . How are the small brackets used to "finish" the installation? (I can't find my installation instructions).

You can see how to adjust the retaining bracket beginning on page 6 of the installation instructions. If you need help finding this, you can go to our site and plug your model number in. - Answer Hello, and thanks for reaching out about our black stainless steel finish option. We certainly understand how important the right look for your appliances is and would like to assist. At this time this particular unit is available with a black or stainless steel finish; in some areas, a white finish may also be available. We are proud to offer several different appliances with the black stainless steel finish option to create a sleek and modern look, but unfortunately our compactors don't currently come with that finish. Questionwhat's the difference in GE model UCG1500nbb and UCG1600LBB?
