A: Dear Customer, The GC900QPP trash compactor is a convertible, freestanding model with castors that can be moved from room to room. Model GX900QPP will have the same features as the GC900QPP model only this is an undercounter model that has to be built-in in a cabinet setting. Models GX900QPP and GC900QPP are the most featured compactors Whirlpool offers. Model TU800SPP is an undercounter model that will not have some of the features that the GC900QPP model has. Model TU800SPP features knob controls whereas model GC900QPP has touch pad controls. Model TU800SPP does not have the hidden removable key control knob that the GC900QPP has nor does it feature the tilt-away trash basket. Thank you for your interest in the Whirlpool trash compactors.

Trashy Compactor-Beware!!
This Compactor lasted 18 months. Then, 3 parts just fell off. Poor, Poor Workmanship. Also, Best Buy told me on purchase this was covered by their Total Protection Plan for 24 months.NOT TRUE.Read the fine print-"Compactors not Covered."

trash complactor malfunction in just a few months
We have purchased two of these trash compactors over the years, one more recently in 2024. it worked great for a while but about the time the warranty ran out we could not do anything about the malfunction and these things are not cheap. I love using a compactor, however when you start the compactor and it is finishing compacting it goes into a terrible noise and shakes the compactor. I have to manually go turn it off. I would love for some one to have checked this out for me. No one was willing to help me. We will not buy another trash compactor.

Okay for what it does.
everything came well and works good. The only issue is that this device does not have a compact mode which compresses and holds the compressed material down. It will only go down and compress, and then return back up to the top.
