“If the product with is less than 17 inches in width why does it need a window opening more than 20 inches (according to the specs)?”

• The window size listed includes space for the side panels. The side panels can be left off if needed for smaller windows. We strongly encourage you to view the window requirements on page 11 of the Use and Care manual on the product page. -Kacie@GEAppliances
