Hi there - we're excited to give you more information about this refrigerator! You don't need to connect a water line to this refrigerator to operate it and the electrical outlet is sufficient. Please do keep in mind that this unit is icemaker-ready and if you ever want to add the accessory (#IM4D) to the refrigerator, you must have a water connection. -- We hope you found this helpful. Please try again later.A regular outlet is fine you can plug it into any outlet which I really like I didn’t have to get a special appliance outlet and it does not have a water hook up to it to the best of my knowledge besides living in Long Island I suggest you use bottled water or I happen to have a water dispenser unit
