Assume your question is rhetorical. However, I would suggest that you call GE and see if they would be willing to extend your coverage those couple of weeks. I did this with a GE dishwasher that was a month out of warranty several years ago and they did take care of it. What helped me was that I had registered the dishwasher and the 5 other GE appliances we bought at the same time and could honestly say that I was a loyal GE customer. As for this microwave, we just bought this model to replace a nearly identical (i.e. the same except for the look of the door and control panel) that broke after 14 years. No doubt that things are being made cheaper, but this technology is so mature that one breaking after a year would not be typical at all. Good luck!
