“I bought a GE JES2051SNSS. Why are there trimkits available to fit this model if it says on the box that the microwave is not intended to be "built in". If I put it in an opening in my kitchen and put a trim kit around it, is that not "built in"?”

Air flow is designed for counter top use. Building it in & adding a trim kit (From another model since there is none for this model) can cause the megnatron tube overheat. Don't believe me, contact GE customer service & they will confirm this.
