Home Depot seems to contradict itself about its requirements on the ice maker set up. It clearly states that the water line and shut off valve be located within 6 feet of the fridge on the same floor. However when my fridge was delivered the requirements changed and left me stranded with my brand new fridge sitting in the middle of my living room until the next open appt. a week later ! All this because they said my shut off valve was not behind the fridge stuck on the wall where they claim its supposed to be, which is B.S., my shut off was 5 feet away under my sink where any person with half a brain knows thats where it should be ,not trapped behind a 300 lb. fridge taking up needed space on a wall !

To determine how much tubing you need, measure the distance from the water valve on the back of the refrigerator to the water supply pipe. Be sure there is sufficient extra tubing to allow the refrigerator to move out from the wall after installation. See page 35 of the Installation Instructions- INSTALLING THE WATER LINE: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-60805-1.PDF - Thanks for choosing GE!
