It has 3 shelves that pull out. The top one is silverware and then 2 racks for dishes. The height of the center one is adjustable.

Mine has three shelves. The top one is for flat utensils, which I don’t find useful. I wash utensils by hand. But the unit is whisper quiet and works like a dream.

A clarification on the previous answer; the model I have is GDT695SGJ5WW which is in a white finish (instead of stainless steel like GDT695SSJ4SS) and has the 3rd rack but GDT655SGJWW wouldn't be the white version of GDT695SSJ4SS so I'm not sure about the third rack on that one.

It does has three shelves. The top rack is very useful and the dishwasher is very roomy generally. (I don't know what other differences it might have from the stainless steel version, but as far as I know it's the same except for the finish--including stainless steel interior.)

Hi Tiss - Model GDT655SGJWW (White) is the same as GDT655SSJSS (Stainless). This model does not have the 3rd Rack. Model GDT695SSJSS (Stainless) / GDT695SGJWW (White) has the 3rd Rack. Thanks for choosing GE! Sue
