• A:Answer Hey there, This is a good question. The vent is located in the center of the backsplash area and it allows heat and steam to escape while using the oven. This can cause that area to become quite warm when cooking. Thanks for choosing GE. Mike@GEA

Q: QuestionDoes the oven temp knob have any marks? i.e. 250, 300, 450 ect. I don't see any thing in the pictures.

• A:Answer Hello! We appreciate the excellent question on this stupendous range. We are always happy to help. The markings for the oven temperatures are on the knobs itself. This is why the markings are not visible from a picture of the front of the unit. If you were to look from the side or top, the numbers would be visible. • A:Answer Hi Thomas - We're excited to hear of your interest in our GE® 24" Steam Clean Free-Standing/Slide-in Gas Range JGAS640RMSS! The range has an electronic ignition system and requires a 120V- 15A circuit. The automatic pilotless ignition (also called automatic electric or automatic electronic ignition) eliminates the need to light the burners. It also saves money by using less gas than a standing pilot range. Because this system has no standing pilot light, no gas is being used unless it is needed. With the spark igniter system, electricity simply sparks when the control is turned to the LITE position. Gas is simultaneously released and ignites when it comes in contact with the spark. The glo-bar in the oven will cycle on and off with the oven temperature. When it cycles on to heat, the gas valve opens and the gas is ignited. When the oven is at temperature, the gas valve closes there are no longer flames. You only use gas and see flames in the oven when the oven is actively heating. This particular model requires a 120 -Volt, 60 Hertz properly grounded circuit protected by a 50-amp or 20-amp circuit breaker or time delay fuse.
