My GE does make a soft humming sound. But this is my first GE. I had LG before which was very quiet until it was on its last leg.

Our new fridge is loud and I can hear it 20+ feet away in the next room! I stopped by BestBuy and they suggested I call the Geek Squad service group to come inspect it. Will post again after their visit.
