Sometimes you might want to throw in another piece of clothing after the washer has filled and started the wash cycle. Can you do so and not have the water start running out or can you open the lid to just check to see if everything is ok?”

Absolutely not..It empties right away. There are times it does not even go thru the rinse cycle.

I think if you're using the 'auto water level' setting it could throw off the weight. But if you're just adding a t-shirt or a few socks, it shouldn't make a huge difference.

Yes, if the wash cycle is in progress and you want to add an item, you can open the lid, add the item, and then close the lid.
