GE does not have a decibel rating on our washing machines. This washer uses the HydroWave wash, which is a very quiet agitator wash system. Sounds you may hear include a metallic clicking when the shifter mechanism is engaging or disengaging, back and forth swoosh during agitation, water flow changes during the fill, and humming or gurgling when the water drain pump is running,

This washer is far quieter than I have experienced with traditional "old old school" top load washers. I hear the odd whir here and there and a little on the spin cycle, but nothing distracting or loud the way older top load washers are.
