It is probably your counterweight inside the machine that has come loose. This is the problem I had. The drum spins and there is nothing to keep it in check, so it bangs against the housing and the concrete counterweight gets chewed up in the process. You can have the counterweight re-installed, but the bracket that holds it down is flimsy and will not last. Also the drive train gets beat to heck banging against the concrete counterweight and will ruin your drive train so that even if you put a new counterweight in, it will still be ruined and loud. Return the machine and get and different one if you still can, because this one is a lemon with a capital L.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mine is much quieter than the last two Maytags I owned. Maybe you have it overloaded or an out of balance load.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.YES. Very. Ours is in the basement, so it's not that bothersome, however if you plan on placing near a sleeping area or gathering area, you won't be happy with this item.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hello- This is Lisa from GE. I am happy to assist you. Make sure your shipping rod has not been left in. Also moving the washer without the rod in place or the washer not being leveled properly will cause noise issues. You may hear the following normal noises during the spin cycle: Sucking/Slurping/Gurgling These noises during the drain and early in the spin cycle are caused by the pump extracting water from the clothes. The noise will diminish toward the end of the spin once the pump has removed all the water from the clothes. Swishing/Swooshing/Roaring/Train These noises are caused by the water and/or suds being trapped between the basket and the tub during the spin cycle. These noises should go away as the pump eliminates all the remaining water and/or suds. If your noise is excessive, feel free to contact GE Factory Service at 800.432.2737. I hope this helps. Thanks for checking!
