Its pretty much what you see. 4 shelves and the bottom shelf. So 5 shelves - all flat, only the top 4 slide out at all. So it's a matter of what you want to put on the shelf. All wine, or mix and match. Up to you.

Does it really hold 31 bottles of wine? The description says 31 beverage bottles and many wine coolers accommodate less than they state... how many wine bottles are you able to fit? Thanks!

As configured, 2 of the 5 shelves only allow containers to be placed on their side (such as a wine botte) and the other 3 can hold 12 oz cans.
