It will take a couple weeks to bring it down and maintain it. 60% is pretty high. Just set the setting at 45-50% and turn it on low. It will pretty much run so the tank fills up. Just keep emptying it and it will bring the humidity level down. My Nest reports 38% humidity while the unit reports its as 40-45% range.

This dehumidifier comes with a Smart Dry feature that compares the set humidity level with the actual humidity in the room and automatically adjusts the fan speed accordingly. The adjustable humidistat allows you to set your desired humidity level anywhere between 30-70% (40% is recommended for maximum comfort). We hope this is the information you are looking for, and if you have any additional questions, please reach out. We are happy to help!- Kianna@GEA
