“Is it possible to use up my non-HE detergent in an HE machine by modifying the amount of detergent? I just bought an HE washer and hate to throw or give away my big bucket of detergent. Thank you.”

If I read correctly in the manual, you can use regular detergent. However you have to reduce the amount by 50% (cut it in half) to avoid on overabundance of suds.
