“The info on the lid of this washer at Best Buy states: HE:No. That's why I bought this. Owners manual states HE detergent reccomended, no where on the washer does it indicate HE. Can regular detergent be used? Very disappointed.”

I use regular detergent - mainly tide.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I thought same thing. GE says they recommend HE detergent in all their washers. Something about the amount of suds regular creates but I’ve been using regular liquid detergent with no issues.

However, GE Appliances recommends HE (High Efficiency) detergent be used in all of our washers (past and present models) for optimum wash performance. HE detergent works best with the lower water levels used in all modern washing machines and cleans just as well as standard detergents regardless of the machine type or age.
