  • QuestionIs there a hot wash only option? The display picture shows the selection as hot/warm/colors. Does that indicate that the machine picks the temperature and you can't choose just plain hot?

    Asked by Customer.

    • Answer These new machines have preset temperatures. Meaning hot is mixed with cold to maintain what GE says the temperature should be. No more days of 131degree water to allergens and dust mites. They want you to use Oxi and Sanitze cycle forget the water temp which is what NSF says the temp needs to be to kill these allergens. No deep fill or deep rinse on normal cycle either and a few others. Do you research there videos are misleading. Machine is incapable of filling up all the way. Best is 1/2 to 2/3s and that pressing the buttons. Look at the 2016 and the new 2018 guidelines that just went into effect in January. They all must have auto load sensors which are no longer hackable and even thought they have bigger drums they do not fill up. What you see on you tube are videos from them of the older models before these new guidelines. The water temperatures are preset as well so if you really want hot water it doesn’t matter if you turn up your hot water heater that preset is going to add cold water no matter what.

  • QuestionHow do you use the clean basket cycle on a GE washing machine side side load model number wcvh6800j1ww

    Asked by Jdominguez.

    • Answer Hello Jdominguez - Thank you for reaching out about your washer. We are happy to help. On model wcvh6800j1ww, pour one cup of bleach into the empty tub and select the basket clean cycle. The machine will run for about 90 minutes. Do not interrupt the cycle. Leave the door open when the cycle is complete to help ventilate the bleach smell. Let us know if you have any more questions.

  • QuestionCan you please explain what sanitize with Oxi option is?

    Asked by Magz.

    • Answer Hi Magz - The Sanitize With Oxi cycle, when using an Oxi additive along with your detergent, is designed to remove 99.9% of bacteria found in home laundry. Measure the detergent and the Oxi products carefully using the amounts recommended by the products' manufacturers. Use the amounts for a large heavily soiled load. For the Sanitize With Oxi cycle: Add the clothes and then place the detergent and Oxi product directly on top of the load. The washer hot water supply connection must provide a minimum of 120°F to ensure the effectiveness of this cycle. The default "Sanitize With Oxi" cycle water temperature can not be changed. The Sanitize With Oxi cycle is certified by NSF International, an independent third party testing and certification organization. The certification verified that the cycle reduced 99.9% of bacteria typically found in residential laundry and that no significant contamination is transferred to subsequent washer loads. Only the Sanitize With Oxi cycle has been designed to meet the requirements of NSF Protocol P172 for sanitizing effectiveness. • QuestionWhat is the difference between this machine,GTW685BSLWSSKU: 5835847 and GTW680BSJWSSKU: 4374301 beside the 0.1 cu ft capacity? Are these two machines big enough to wash a king size comforter? Will clothes pick up odor like older front loading washers?

    Asked by LeeBaby.

    • Answer Hi LeeBaby- This is Sue at GE Appliances. The main differences between these models are the capacity and agitator. GTW685BSLWS is the latest model and has a dual-action agitator- Powerful reversing wash action rotates your laundry for a thorough clean every time. Play Video: https://www.youtube.com/embed/tRtHk5hk8v4?rel=0 - GTW680BSJWS has an Infusor with recirculation pump. Loads are thoroughly saturated with this recirculation pump that moves water and detergent through clothes. Top-load washers with an Infusor will not have a traditional agitator. The Infusor replaces the agitator and is approximately 7 1/2" high and has a wide base (wash plate) that works alone or with the wash basket to provide different types of wash action. With an Infusor, the clothes stay near the wash plate. The mechanical action of the Infusor moves the clothes through the water and against the sides of the tub and down around the Infusor. Play Video: https://www.youtube.com/embed/LK-SW1TzyK8?rel=0 - Both models offer "Bulky Items" cycle ideal for water-resistant, bedding and bulky items, such as large coats, mattress pads, and bath mats. Provides a Deep Fill/max fill wash water level. Also incorporates a Deep Fill rinse to effectively rinse bulky items and a low spin speed appropriate for these items. Any size comforter will wash properly as long as it fits below the balance ring of the washer tub and is not stuffed in the tub tightly. You should not experience the described odor problem. Both models feature a Basket Clean cycle. This Basket Clean cycle should be performed, at a minimum, once per month. This cycle will use more water, in addition to bleach, to control the rate at which soils and detergents may accumulate in your washer. Washer odors are usually caused by leaving the washer lid closed when not in use. This does not allow air to circulate and dry out the moisture remaining in the tub area. The air and moisture mixture becomes stagnant and creates an odor. When the washer is not in use, leaving the lid up/open for air circulation will help prevent odor. Keep in touch. We are always eager to help!

    Asked by need2bcln.

    • Answer Hi need2bcln- Thanks for viewing! GTW685BSLWS is equipped with a dual-action agitator that provides powerful reversing wash action as it rotates your laundry for a thorough clean every time. Play Video: https://www.youtube.com/embed/tRtHk5hk8v4?rel=0 - Also, loosen stubborn stains by soaking up to 2 hours with Auto Soak option. Play Video: https://www.youtube.com/embed/A8Nu7V8fUfY?rel=0 - And the Stain Removal Guide option cleans 5 of the most common stains with preprogrammed settings that modify any cycle to help remove blood, tomato, wine, dirt and grass. • QuestionI want to use this washer in a location that is plumbed for cold water only. Since I use only cold for laundry (& the washer has an internal water heater)-- can I get away with having only a cold-water supply? Or perhaps twin cold-water supply faucets?

    Asked by Cholla.

    • Answer Hi Cholla - If you only have access to cold water you will need to keep the Temp option on Tap Cold. This setting allows water from the cold tap only. All other settings are a mixture of hot/cold water and would require both Hot and Cold water hook-ups. Thanks for choosing GE. Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com - Sue

  • QuestionCan you put tide pods in the upper detergent try?

    Asked by Tay.

    • Answer Hi Tay - Place Tide detergent pods in the bottom of the wash basket before adding clothes. Single-dose laundry packets should not be added to the dispenser drawer, as they will not dispense properly. • QuestionCan you fit a king sized comforter in this washer?

    Asked by Lee.

    • Answer Yes, I have a king and have no problem at all washing it in this tub. I will say that if it's really puffy you may notice it is more wrinkled, but once I put it into the dryer it came out just fine. Also, I wouldn't add too much soap or you may need the extra rinse.

  • QuestionI just had this washer delivered and used it for the first time. It makes an AWFUL loud noise like the gears are grinding when it is in the Sensing stage. Is that NORMAL??

    Asked by Hunter.

    • Answer Hi Hunter- Clicks, water flowing, gear sounds followed by pauses, and electric hum sounds are all part of the normal wash cycle. At the beginning of the cycle, the lid will lock, creating a clicking noise. The basket will then spin up and coast down several times to sense the load size.
