I'm not a repair technician but if you have to restart to unlock the lid, find out where in the cycle you left off and position the center knob accordingly. If it needs a rinse or spin then set it to that mark. I have found with this washer that if a load is unbalanced, it might mean that the washer itself is not sitting level on the floor. Ensuring that the washer is level, use smaller loads and evenly distribute items. Avoid overfilling the washer with too many clothes and definitely too many heavy clothes. That should help solve the issue of unbalanced loads in the future as well.
