“In regards to the temp setting, I understand Hot, Warm and Cold, but what is Colors, Cool and Tap Cold ? When should they be used?”

Colors- Machine adjust the warm and cold to the right mixture. Cool- The washer actually adds a little warm water to the cold. Tap cold- Is actually straight cold water.
