  • QuestionWhen I add the fabric softener in dispenser drawer it automatically pours into the tub and is washed away when water is dispensed, is this normal ? My clothes do not have that fabric softener smell , thought the softener was dispensed later in cycle

    Asked by Wendy.

    • Answer Hello Wendy - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and we are happy to help you. Liquid fabric softener/conditioner should be added to the small drawer in the rear of the washer opening. Follow the liquid fabric softener/conditioner manufacturer’s recommendations for the correct amount of softener/conditioner, based on the load size. Do not overfill or dilute softener/conditioner as this can result in the additive being dispensed prematurely in the wash cycle. Your option selections will determine when liquid fabric softener/conditioner is automatically dispensed at its optimal time in the rinse cycle. We hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

  • QuestionWhat's the difference between the Whites cycle and the Towels/Sheets cycle? When should I use either? Where/when should hydrogen peroxide be added (bleach alternative) and can it be added in any cycle or does the machine have to be set to Whites?

    Asked by NYC01.

    • Answer Hi NYC01 - Towels/Sheets cycle is designed for washing towels or sheets, using a higher water level and a soak period to effectively clean these items (Recommend Warm water). It is recommended that towels and sheets be washed separately for best care and washing performance. For waterproof bed covers use Bulky Items cycle. Whites cycle is designed for Whites and household linens (recommend Hot water). Tailored to clean and brighten your whites. Check out pages 8-9 of the Owner's Manual - Wash Cycles: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-90586-1.pdf - It is equipped with Bleach, Detergent (Liquid/Powder) and Fabric Softener dispensers. A bleach alternative can be added to any cycle (not just whites). It has a Sanitize with Oxi cycle. Remove 99.9% of bacteria with a dedicated cycle that uses an Oxi additive to boost your detergent’s cleaning power, while keeping fabrics looking and feeling their best. See pages 9 (*Sanitize with Oxi) and 15 (Dispensers) of the Owner's Manual. Place laundry pretreatments, such as an Oxi product, directly in the bottom of the wash basket before loading clothes. NOTE: Do not use liquid chlorine bleach and laundry pretreatments such as an Oxi product in the same wash load. Thanks for choosing GE. Enjoy! Sue
