Q: QuestionI understand this range can be converted to LP gas, and it has an electronic ignition system for lighting the pilots. If a power outage occurred could the range and oven be manually lite? Also can regular electric outlet be used for ignition of pilots

• A:Answer Hi Lynn- Yes, it has an electronic ignition system and can be converted for use with LP. The LP Conversion Kit is included. It operates on 120V/15Amp. In the case of a power outage, you can light the surface burners with a match. Hold a lighted match to the burner, then turn the knob to the low position. Use extreme caution when lighting the burners this way. The oven of your gas range is lit by electric ignition, eliminating the need for standing pilots. 1990 and newer gas ovens cannot be lit without power supplied to it. Keep in touch! SUE@GEA

• A:Answer Hi Jewel- Yes, the range can be converted from Natural Gas to LP (Propane). The LP Conversion Kit is included. GE Appliances recommends a qualified installer or servicer convert the gas range to the proper gas supply needed. • A:Answer Hi Booboo- It's exciting to hear of your interest! Yes, JGBS60DEKWW has an electronic ignition system. The automatic pilotless ignition (also called automatic electric or automatic electronic ignition) saves energy by eliminating the task of lighting the burners. It also saves money by using 30% less gas than a standing pilot range. Because this system has no standing pilot light, no gas is being used unless it is needed. With the spark ignitor system, electricity simply sparks when control is turned to the LITE position. Gas is simultaneously released and ignites when it comes in contact with the spark. Should there be a power failure, the oven will not function but the burners may be lit with a match. Simply hold the match near the burner, turn the control to LITE. Q: QuestionMy old GE XL44 heats up my whole kitchen when I use the oven. It also heats up on top of the range thru the burners. Handles of my pots get hot also. Does this new one do that?

• A:Answer Thanks so much for being a part of the GEA family! We know things can heat up while cooking so we're happy to help. All ranges of exhaust vents somewhere on the appliance. This model has vents located at the rear of the cooktop, at the top and bottom of the oven door, and at the bottom of the range under the broiler drawer. If your kitchen gets warm, we recommend ventilating it with open windows or an exhaust hood above the range. - John@GEAppliances

The front and sides of a range can vary from 152 to 212 degrees F., depending on the materials. There are currently no temperature limitations for the horizontal surface, or cooktop, of a range.
