• A:Answer On my first range it did. We cooked on it and while eating dinner the top broke making a sound like it blew up. That was on my Whirlpool Range 6 months old. Because I had a hard time getting it repaired timely I got a regular GE range with coil burners and standard oven. We liked both just not happy with Whirlpool service rep. Stove unusable with answer of a month or more before he could get parts. I was in need of stove for fixing family dinner.

• A:Answer The sensi-temp burners on this range cannot be replaced with non-sensi-temp burners. Regulations require all electric coil top ranges to have temperature limiting capabilities to reduce the risk of cooktop oil and grease fires. As a result, our electric coil burners now use Sensi-Temp Technology.

It is not possible to determine the type of facilities that are available or what the local electrical codes require (ex. 3-wire vs 4-wire). • A:Answer Thank you for checking on this with us. Canning should be done on surface units only. Normally, pots that extend beyond one inch of the cooking element's trim ring are not recommended for most surface cooking; however, when canning with a water-bath, pressure canner, or pressure cooker, larger diameter pots may be used. This is because boiling water temperatures (even under pressure) are not harmful to cooktop surfaces surrounding the surface units. Observe the following points in canning: Do not use large diameter canners or other large diameter pots for frying or boiling foods other than water. Flat bottomed canners must be used. When canning, use recipes and procedures from reputable sources. These are available from canning jar manufacturers and county extension offices. Remember that canning is a process that generates large amounts of steam and heat. Use extreme caution.
