  • QuestionDo I need special pans and pots with the flat top stove? How do you clean the top and does it scratch?

    Asked by Rocky.

    • Answer Hi Rocky - Thanks for your interest! While "special" cooktop is not required, flat bottom pans are essential for good cooking performance since the bottom of the pan needs to touch the glass for the best heat transfer. Stainless Steel and Aluminum are recommended. Sometimes marks may appear on the glass ceramic that seem to be scratches, but are really just marks from a pan and are able to be removed by cleaning. The glass ceramic cooktops are scratch resistant, yet not scratch proof. Check the bottoms of the pans that you use for any rough spots or burned food pieces. Again, the bottoms of the pans should be a "smooth" flat surface. You should be pleased with your choice! Sue

    Asked by mde65.

    • Answer Hi mde65 - Thanks for reaching out to us and for choosing GE Model # JB625DKWW. We are happy to help. Ovens with a visible bottom bake element generally take 5-10 minutes to preheat. Selected temperature (every 25 degree increment above 350 set temperature will add approximately 45-60 seconds to preheat time. 208 Volt installation (vs 240V) will increase pre-heat time by 25%. If the oven is taking much longer than normal to preheat, first, turn off the circuit breaker for the range, wait 30 seconds, and turn it back on. This makes sure that it is not getting half power. If it was newly installed, then we recommend having the installer check the power cord to make sure it was wired to the range properly. • QuestionSince the oven does not heat to the actual set temperature, what happens when you have a cake or bread made from scratch. GE stated that they had tested frozen items or packaged foods. Some want precise temps for baking. what gives?

    Asked by Fredinflorida.

    • Answer Hi Fredinflorida- Recipes can differ, as can a food's preheat requirements. Most foods we tested don't require additional oven heating, though there are always exceptions. For precise temps for baking, allow the oven to fully preheat. Electric ovens with a visible bottom bake element can take 5-10 minutes to fully preheat. Keep in touch! Sue

  • QuestionIf you set the oven for a certain temperature, say 400, when the buzzer goes off for preheat, the oven is only 250 or 300. We have already replaced the oven sensor. Why is this happening?

    Asked by abbott.

    • Answer Hi abbott- Thanks for choosing model JB625DKWW! We are happy to provide assistance. Many newer ranges have an Audible Preheat Signal that will signal when the oven has reached a temperature hot enough to add food, rather than when the set temperature is reached. Typically the range will signal after about 7-12 minutes, depending of the temperature you set. We test our ranges with prepackaged foods, frozen pizzas, baked goods, etc. We put the items in at the beep, and get good results. This can help save time in the kitchen, since you are not waiting longer for the preheat than necessary, in most cases. Recipes can differ, as can a food's preheat requirements. Most foods we tested don't require additional oven heating, though there are always exceptions. If you're finding a recipe isn't cooking properly, then you may want to turn on the oven a little bit before you start your food preparation to give it a little more time. You can also remove unused racks when using the oven for faster preheat, improved efficiency, and optimal performance. Thanks for reaching out to us. Keep in touch! SUEatGEA
