Yes, it can - mine had to be hard-wired. BUT, the guys who come out to perform your delivery will not do that for you and they make you buy a cord when you buy the stove. For those reasons, you need to have someone available to hook up the stove and you probably need to reuse the wiring from the old stove if you did not buy new, so grab it before they haul off your old stove. If you bought the unit online and have to return the cord, good luck, because I found the store personnel less than helpful when something was purchased online.
