This is a relative question, of course. However, if it is in a basement with the door closed to the upstairs, you will not hear it operate upstairs. If you live downstairs you will certainly hear it but the noise will eventually fade from your awareness. (Until it shuts off and restarts later!)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.kinda noisy even on low. But it moves air a lot more than my last dehumidifier.

Sound level is a very difficult to describe and what may seem loud to you may not be to someone else. According to the *League of the Hard of Hearing: *18 dBA - Normal breathing, *38 dBA - A soft whisper, *48 dBA - Libraries, *58 dBA - Moderate rainfall. How loud the unit may seem will also depend on the room in which it's located. The size of the room, construction, floor covering, etc. can all make a difference as to the perception of the sound level. We hope you find this helpful. All out best! Vikki@GEA
