• Hi -Thanks for considering GE! Yes, if the bucket is full or missing, an alarm will sound for 10 seconds to let you know it's time to empty and replace the bucket. Keep in touch! Sue

• Yes, it does shut off when full. Since mine is in a basement with access to a drain, I use the hose , but I used it with the bin for the first few days.
