Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi - Thanks for reaching out to us! We are sorry to hear the compressor is not operating on your year old GE dehumidifier and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. If the room temperature goes below 41 degrees F, frost may accumulate on the dehumidifying coil. This can reduce the unit's operating efficiency. Some model dehumidifiers are equipped with an Automatic Defrost Control. When frost builds up on the coils, the compressor will cycle off and the fan will run continuously until the frost disappears. Air that is slightly cooler than room temperature may be exhausted while defrosting the coil. Once the coil is defrosted, the compressor will automatically restart. Also, try to reset the dehumidifier by disconnecting power for 30 seconds and re-connecting the power. If the unit is out of the 1-year warranty period and in need of a repair, check with local servicers to see if they service dehumidifiers. Please note that there are not repair parts for dehumidifiers, and GE Appliances Factory Service does not service dehumidifiers. Or, reach out to us at GEAppliances.com for review. Again, we are sorry for this experience. Keep in touch! Sue
