• The port is on the left side. When connected to a drain hose the water pan can remain inside the unit.

• Left side if you are looking at it from the front. Be careful if you are using a hose to make sure you screw it on carefully that you do not screw the plastic adapter to the hose. If it doesn't screw on easy that means you may have a problem so be careful plus it is a tight area to get your fingers in. The Dehumidifier otherwise is one of the best I have used yet. The Ac cord seems really short compared to all the ones I have used before.
