You should always replace the power cords. These dryers are high power consumers esp the older one you may have had. Best replaced as a caution.

Most electric dryer power cords are sold separately to ensure that they comply with all state and local wiring codes. These codes vary significantly from state to state, and even, city to city, therefore, we recommend using a new cord with a new appliance. The dryer power cord must be UL rated 120/240V, 30A with 3 or 4 prongs. You should identify the plug type as per the house receptacle before purchasing a line cord. There are numerous internal venting kits available on the market. They are not recommended for use on GE and Hotpoint dryers. The concern over internal venting is for lint build up around the electrical parts and moisture damage from the humidity being pulled from the clothes. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!
