Q: Dryer door is too hard to open and close - anyone else have a problem with this dryer?
A: Yes we just bought this and you have to literally slam the heck out of door to close. It’s awful!
Q: can this dryer be vented from the side
A: Hello- This is Lisa from GE. I am happy to assist you. The dryer can vent from the bottom, rear and both sides. I hope this helps. Thanks for checking!
Q: what is max duct length for this dryer?
A: Hello, Thank you for your question on the GE Dryer model GTDP490EDWS. Proper airflow and ducting is important to the operation and performance of the dryer. The maximum allowable duct length and number of bends of the exhaust system depends upon the type of duct, number of turns, the type of exhaust hood (wall cap), and all conditions noted below. The maximum duct length for rigid metal duct is shown in the table below. With 4 elbows using rigid metal, the duct can be 25 feet long and 3 turns with rigid metal 35 feet. Please see the installation instruction for complete details and specifications On venting. ~ For every extra 90° elbow, reduce the allowable vent system length by 10 ft. ~ Two 45° elbows will be treated like one 90° elbow. ~ For the side exhaust installations, add one 90° elbow to the chart. ~ The total vent system length includes all the straight portions and elbows of the system (transition duct included). ~ Venting straight up through the roof is no longer acceptable. Should you have any additional questions, please let us know. Donna with GE
A: You should always replace the power cords. These dryers are high power consumers esp the older one you may have had. Best replaced as a caution.
A: Hello INeedaDryer - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. Most electric dryer power cords are sold separately to ensure that they comply with all state and local wiring codes, which vary locally. They are supplied with a 3-prong grounding plug. Electric dryers such as this require 240/208Volts, 30 amp circuit breaker. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!
A: "ventless dryer"? no such thing, unless you hang you clothes on a line. :) No, this dryer definitely has a vent.
