“Will this easily replace my existing unit? I currently have a JVM1440WD 002 GE model Microwave which has cracked on its various plastic face pieces. Time to replace. Will this model easily fit into my existing space? Is this unintall/intall process a difficult task or easily done by a novice?”

Hi Matt, This is Lisa from GE. I am happy to help. the microwave will fit in the same space as your current model. You will need to use the mounting plate that comes with the new model. I suggest having a handle man help out. Thanks for checking with us.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It's an easy install. You will need help to hold it up while you put the screws in the top. It took me about a half hour total and I had to drill new wholes in my cabinet so line up with the threaded holes in the top of the microwave.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I replaced my unit by myself, but I would recommend having help to hold it in place, I ordered mine because the one I had was malfunctioning and it fit fine, I can't say perfect, but it looks good
