A:AnswerHi Sue - Thank you for your interest in a GE over-the-range model microwave. All of our over-the-range models with be approximately 16"H x 30"W. The height dimensions vary slightly by model. These models also have a different height dimension when you measure the unit at the front versus the rear of the unit. You'll also have to purchase a new trim kit. It is important to only use the trim kit designed for that model so that the trim kit fits the microwave, and provides the proper air flow that it needs. The PEM31SFSS microwave can be installed in 3 ways: placed on a counter-top, suspended from the underside of a cabinet using a hanging kit (to save valuable counter space) or built-in using the appropriate built-in kit (which includes above a built-in oven). It is not approved to be installed above a "range". The only microwaves we offer that are approved for installation above a range are the over-the-range models (that also operate as a vent hood as an added bonus). Keep in touch! Mike@GEA
