It’s versatile to both recirculating or vented to the outside, depending on how you want to set it up. Not sure what you mean by internal ventilation. It pulls the air up from underneath and recirculates it out the top front. There’s nothing extra you need to do with installation if you want it recirculating. That how I use it but I think you can vent it to the outside also, it gives you that option. You’d need extra parts and extra steps to install.
