Hi poertgoose - This microwave is also installed with top support screws (no bracket). It is equipped with a rear wall bracket. All 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width, and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Therefore, any of our 30" over-the-range models will work as a replacement for an existing 30" over-the-range model. Each microwave comes with the mounting hardware (mounting bracket, screws, exhaust adapter), top and rear templates, and installation instructions. This makes choosing a replacement microwave easy. NOTE: When replacing an over-the-range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. The new screws, bolts, and exhaust adapter should also be used. That is what one would expect but you want to make sure. (ii) you are going to want to check to see if the mounting brackets are similar. Typically, those designs do not change, but you do want to check to make sure that there is no real difference between the old one and the new one. (iii) if you want to use the existing mount, you are going to want to check to see that there is no bending or other distortion. When mounting these units, people tend to torque them down very tightly to ensure that there is no wobble or free play that would allow the retaining nuts to loosen.Most people, I believe, would use the new equipment and discard the old, simply out of habit. The main thing is to ensure that the lag bolts, for either the older the new unit are undamaged so the retaining screws can turn freely until they are tight enough to be torqued down. The last unit I replaced reason only one question and that was one of the anchor bracket that attaches to the wall for the old unit would be of use in mounting the new one. I recall that that the technician replace the old wall bracket with the new one because the new unit was slightly larger at the bottom than the old one. Rule: get out your flashlight in measuring tape and make sure.
