“Installer couldn't push DW (PDP715SYNFS) into position with side trim pieces installed due to tight fit. He left them off leaving a gap on 1 side. What are consequences with no side trim pieces? Can steam cause mold/mildew on or behind adjacent cabinet?”

I had to leave ours off too because of the fit. It is just for a finished look. I was able to center it between the cabinets and never noticed it since.
