Hi guyinstilwellks - The amount of water used in our dishwashers has been significantly lowered over the years. Changes have been made to continually make the dishwashers more efficient. Different models vary in the number of gallons used in the different cycles. Water usage on this model varies from 2.4 gallons to 6.6 gallons. Water usage will vary based on turbidity (soil level), including when the upper/lower Wash Zones are used. Dishwashers must be connected to hot water line only. Generally, the entering water in a dishwasher should be at least 120°F. This model has Automatic Hot Start. Water coming into the dishwasher may be as low as 95 degrees F and this feature will help raise the temperature to the required 120 degrees F. If the incoming water temperature is too low, the Auto Hot Start feature may add up to 25 minutes of additional time. We hope this is helpful. Thanks for considering GE Profile!
