“If I don't want to use the water pitcher feature, can I still use that space or will there always be a pitcher sitting there and taking up that space? Not clear in the pictures. thanks”

You can turn off the auto fill picture feature. It is located on the top head of the fridge which i think is good design as kids cannot mess with it. Once you turn it off you can remove the picture and not use it.

The water pitcher sits in the door to make sure it doesn't take up valuable storage space in the fresh food section of the refrigerator. If you remove the pitcher, the spot is not designed to store anything else. The water pitcher is a great feature that is equipped with two water dispensing options and automatically refills itself when docked in its station.
