Hi Randyc- GE Profile™ Series 30" Built-In Gas Cooktop PGP9030SLSS has an 18,000 BTU TRI-RING BURNER- Three-in-one burner is designed for accelerated boiling and gentle simmering. The versatile tri-ring burner can go from gently melting butter or gradually reducing a sauce with its 140 degree simmer to quickly boiling with 18,000 BTUs of power. There are three rings to the burner head that are used on different settings. On Low, you will see flames around the small center portion of the burner head. On Medium, there also low flames under the middle rim of the burner head. On High, you will see flames around the outside rim of the burner head.
