Hi - Thank you for having purchased this beautiful and versatile range. The two burners on the left side of the cooking surface are the burners you would use when cooking with a griddle. These burners offer "Sync" capability. This allows the burner to remain at the same temperature across the griddle or cookware surface. If you want the front or rear of the griddle to be different temperatures, adjust the front and rear burners to different settings rather than using the Sync Burner pad. The space between the burners does not heat up when using "Sync"; however, the burners are close enough together that you still get an even cooking area, especially since using Sync will ensure the burners are at the same temperature and will cycle together. Hold the Sync Burners pad for about half a second to connect the two elements. We hope you find this help. All our best! Vikki@GEA
